Allergan

Syntaxin has an alliance with Allergan, Inc. a world leader in the commercialisation of botulinum neurotoxin products to discover, develop and commercialise TSI for the treatment of pain in humans. The lead development candidate entered Phase II studies in Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN) in July 2010, please refer to Clinical Trials for further information.

Allergan paid an up-front fee and has provided multi-million pound research funding to Syntaxin. In the future, Syntaxin is set to receive further development milestones and significant royalties when the product(s) reach the market.

Allergan controls the formal preclinical, clinical, regulatory and global commercialisation aspects of drug candidate progression.

In October 2011, Syntaxin and Ipsen signed their second global strategic collaboration to explore the discovery and development of new compounds in the field of botulinum toxins.  Syntaxin is responsible for the discovery of new therapeutic candidates and Ipsen will apply its skills to pharmacological, preclinical and clinical assessments of the newly discovered compounds. 

Under the terms of the agreement, Syntaxin is eligible to receive a technology access fee, full time employee support, and research milestones amounting up to US$9 million in the first three years of the collaboration. Syntaxin is also eligible to receive additional license fees, development and regulatory milestones and potentially over US$90 million of commercial milestones together with royalties on net sales. In exchange, Ipsen will have exclusive worldwide development and commercialisation rights to the programmes discovered within the scope of the collaboration.

In November 2010, Ipsen also made a strategic investment in Syntaxin during the Company’s Series C financing round.
