Syntaxin has a dominant IP position in regard to its TSI technology with an extensive patent portfolio in all the major world markets.
The portfolio currently consists of over 55 granted patents with more than 110 patent applications pending. The patents cover the core technology of botulinum (and other toxin) domain engineering at the gene level, methods of production of the TSI and specific product inventions (composition of its proprietary proteins and therapeutic targets) for a wide range of diseases.
Part of the patent portfolio was the product of a decade of research by the company’s founding scientists while at the Health Protection Agency, and now assigned or exclusively licensed to Syntaxin.
Since formation, the company’s scientists and collaborators have expanded the patent portfolio in relation to the product programmes, manufacturing processes and applications of the technology. In addition to the extensive portfolio of patents and patent applications, Syntaxin has a vast underpinning expertise and know-how in regard to its technology established over more than 15 years of research into neurotoxin biology and domain engineering. Much of this expertise and know-how is proprietary to Syntaxin.
In developing its future portfolio, Syntaxin’s strategy will continue to seek specific patent cover for each therapeutic area for composition of matter of specific TSI, for manufacturing and analytical processes and for specific medical use claims.
